Become a Pebbler.
Follow our 5-step guide below to install your cable once. From here on out, organise your bag and desk at the push of a button.
Twist the cap open
Twist the top cap of your Pebbl gently to reveal the inner 'S'-shaped winding channel for the wire. We recommend gripping the cap at the flat sections near the two outer eye holes.
Twist the middle section anti-clockwise (Set Clicks)
Twist the inner spool anti-clockwise slowly until you feel and hear the tactile clicks:
Tip: You may dial 1-2 fewer clicks for looser braided cables, or 1-2 more clicks for stiffer rubber cables.
Insert the cable center into the 'S' groove
Fold your charging cord in half so both connector ends touch, locating the exact center point. Seat this center loop into the middle of the 'S'-shaped groove. Press gently to make sure it is fully seated inside.
Close and lock the cap
Align the left eye of the friendly pebble face with the mouth notch. Close the lid and twist firmly to lock in place. You will feel a solid, reassuring tactile click.
Press the button and Pebbl!
Hold both cable ends loosely, press the button on the side of your Pebbl, and watch your cable smoothly coil away inside. To charge, simply pull both ends outward to your desired length.

⚠️ How to Avoid Damaging Your Pebbl
To keep your Pebbl safe and retracting smoothly for years to come, please follow these four critical precautions:
- 1. Do not press the side button when no cable is inside: Triggering the mechanism without a cable—or while the spring is under tension without resistance—can cause the internal spring to over-spin or snap.
- 2. Do not twist clockwise when setting tension: The internal ratchet is designed to lock in only one direction (anticlockwise). Forcing it clockwise can shear the internal teeth.
- 3. Do not extend the cable without the cap locked: Using the mechanism without the cap in place puts uneven axial stress on the spool. Always ensure the cap is locked before pulling.
- 4. Magnets are safe: Pebbl uses internal shielded N52 Neodymium magnets calibrated for modular stacking. They do not interfere with smartphones, wireless charging, or credit cards.
Frequently Asked Setup Questions
What if my cable doesn't retract all the way?
It means your cable needed 1 or 2 more clicks of tension during Step 2. Open the cap, give the groove 2 additional clicks anti-clockwise, reseat the cord, and lock.
Can I damage my wire by using Pebbl?
No! Pebbl was designed specifically by University of Bristol engineers with rounded internal curves and controlled spring torque to prevent pinch points or wire fatigue.
